Derived from an Old English pie recipe and then modified by Brucefur decades ago, and originally using apples from his own orchard, this pie has a richer, smoother, more flexible crust than the more traditionally bland lard ones. The filling is also more flavourful, with a distinct demerara flavour, coupled with a strong lemony nutmeg and cinnamon sauce.
